Catherine E Cook, 92, of 1500 Portland Avenue, formerly of Hornell, passed away Sunday (July 29, 2012) in St. Ann's Home in Rochester, New York.
Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, April 29, 1920, the daughter of John and Eva Leach, she had resided in Hornell for most of her life. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Parish, and a communicant of St. Anns Church. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose, the Catholic Daughters of America, and was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America. Catherine graduated from the former St. James School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, and went on to work for St. James Mercy Hospital for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard F. Cook in 2009, whom she married in 1944, also her son Donald M. Cook in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Phil) Huffsmith of Rochester, her son John (Ricki) Cook of Olney, MD, daughter in law Cathy Cook of Avon, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will be present 10-11AM Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held on at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Fremont.
