Carrol T. Burdick, 87, of
120 East Main St, passed away Friday (March 23, 2007)at home.
Born in Andover, November 26, 1919, the son of Clifford T and Edna Norton Burdick,he had resided in Angelica, for the past 33 years. On June 19, 1943 he married Merabah Olson Burdick who survives. He graduated from Andover Central Schooland later from NYS Ag Tech in Alfred receiving his degree in farm machinery"Class of 1942". In 1943 he built a tractor from a Model A Ford and Fordson tractor parts, which he used until 1974. Carrol had beenemployed by the US Govt to help assist farmers in howto repair their old farm machinery, also as a Dairy Farmer, a telephoneoperator, maple syrup maker and also sold maple syrup equipment, and retiredfrom Alfred State College in 1983. He was a member of the Alfred Station Baptist Church,and also served as Deacon. He was a charter member of the Chemung Valley RegionAntique automobile Club of America, a member, and charter member of the AndoverLions Club and was instrumental in starting the Andover Maple Festival, a lifemember of NY Steam Engine Assoc. and the PS & N RR Historical Society. Carrol's activities included an advisor and honorary memberof the Future Farmers of America, Allegany Co.Agriculture Society where he served as director for 24 years, Hartsville MuseumTrustee, Dairymens League, where he served on theresolutions committee, The Farm Bureau, Cooperative Extension Service director,The Angelica and Andover , and Pomona Granges, where he received an award in2000 for public service, Western NY Gas and Steam Engine Assoc, and the Minature Carousel Builders. He was also a published authorand historian, and had many exhibits in places such as the CurtissMuseum of Hammondsport, Rockwell Museum of Corning and the traveling museum throughoutthe North Eastern States.
He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters LorraineBurdick, and Jane Sisson.
He is survived by his wife MerabahBurdick, a daughter Dawn Miller of Angelica, his sister Phyllis (L.Reid) Mattison of Whitesville,3 grandchildren John (Elizabeth) Gugino of Angelica,Michelle (Shayne) Ellsessor of Angelica, and Valerie(Randy) Smith of Canaseraga 9 great grandchildren,brother in law Norman Olson of Fla, and severalnieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends Thursday (April 5, 2007) from 6-8pm, at the Brown & PowersFuneral Home,
101 West Ave.,Angelica. Funeral services will be Friday(April 6, 2007) at11:00am at the Alfred Station7th Day Baptist Church. Burial will be in Until The Day Dawn Cemetery.
