Carol D. Ritter

Carol D. Ritter, 93, a resident of the Old Big Creek Road, passed away Friday (Jan.19, 2024) at the Vincent House in Wayland.
Born in Canisteo, September 16, 1930, she was the daughter of Ernest and Luella Evingham Knight. Carol was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, and had been employed for 25 years at the former JC Penney’s Store in Hornell. She resided most of her life in Canisteo, however spent 13 years living in Georgia and Florida. She returned to this area in 1999.
Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canisteo and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary off the Canisteo American Legion.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Charles Ritter in 1999, her son, Thomas Morse, her sisters, Marjorie Henry, Linda Bacon and Doris Knight, her brothers, Rodney, Ernest, Jack, John, Gary and Archie W. Knight, two grandchildren, Eric Winkleman and Joshua Flaitz, as well as her step daughter, Rose Ritter.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Thom) Davies of Florida, Cynthia (Bob Geary) McKibben of Hornell and Carol (Lavern) Warriner of Andover, her son, Scott (Mona) Morse of Hornell, step-daughters, Barbara (Terry) Murphy of Canisteo, and Theresa Ritter of Colorado, step-sons, Charles (Nary) Ritter of North Carolina and William Ritter of Colorado, several nieces, nephews, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Granchildren.
The family will be present on Tuesday from 1 PM until 3 PM to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo where funeral services will follow calling hours at 3 PM. Pastor Jim Patton will officiate.
