Carlton C. "Stub" Hallett

Carlton C. "Stub" Hallett, 73, formerly of Canisteo, passed away Tuesday (September 29, 2009) at the home of his daughter in Belmont.
Born in Canisteo, July 20, 1936, the son of Frank and Lorena ( Halninen) Hallett, he had resided in Canisteo all his life before moving to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1987. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1954, and had been employed as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for Union Local #832. While living in Canisteo, he was an active member of the Canisteo Fire Department as well as the Ambulance Corp. Stub had been in ill health since 1976, and had courageously battled cancer for the past 26 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Ida Jane Goodwin, and his brothers, Raymond, Edward, Wilton, Elmer, Perry and Alton Hallett.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Tyler Hallett, his dog, Kaylee Kay, 2 daughters, Karen (Lintz) Bliven of Belmont and Irene (Doug Dickerson) Hallett of Eldred, PA., his son, Steven (Barbara) Bossard of Canisteo, his sisters, Joanne (Monroe) Puffer of Hornell and Donna (Fred) Olin of Hornell, a very special person, Cheryl (Scott) Richardson, 8 grandchildren; Lindsay (Kyle) Warner, , Geoffrey Bliven, Sean Hallett, Brett Masten, Jake Masten, Keith Masten, Brooke Masten, Tammy (Chad) Mullen and one Great Granddaughter, Alexis Warner several nieces & nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9PM Friday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo and on Saturday from 11 AM until 12 Noon at which time a Funeral service will be held with the Rev. Charles Little officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
