Carl T. "CT" Hess, 91, of Edgeview Estates, passed away peacefully Tuesday (November 17, 2015) at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born in Burns, September 14, 1924, the son of Leon A. and Lucille Carnes Hess, he had resided in Cuba during his early life and came to Hornell in 1940.
Ct was a certified Automotive Technician, and was well known for his expertise in repairing automatic transmissions. He was employed for the former Peck Motor Sales from 1943 until 1960, at Isaman Motors from 1960 until 1962, and finished his work career at the former Elsenheimer Chevrolet from 1963 until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of the New York Army National Guard in Olean for three years, and a member and former trustee at the First Baptist Church of Hornell. He was active in the Little League activities for several years, enjoyed camping, playing euchre, playing horseshoes, and NASCAR. Carl was referred to as the "Chevy Man", and especially enjoyed helping family and friends with their automotive problems.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Ralph, Leon, Roy and Raymond Hess.
He is survived by his wife, Maybelle Cox Hess to whom he was married September 23, 1947, his daughters, Cathleen Banoub of North Carolina, Karen (Stephen)Brown of Hornell, his son, Joseph (Mary) Hess of Hornell, ten grandchildren; Michelle (Chuck) Mosher, Joseph (Robin) Hess, Jennifer (Trevor) Sears, Brian Hess, Andrew (Holli) Hess, James (Maria) McKay, Joseph (Melissa) McKay. Christopher Hollowell, Daniel Brown, Kirsten (Tracy) Davis, 14 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Saturday from 1 PM until 3 PM where Funeral services will follow calling hours at 3 PM. Rev. Cedric Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
