HORNELL
Bruce L. Porter, 75, of 6265 Crosby Creek Road, passed away Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) at his home.
Born in Hornell, Nov. 11, 1938, the son of Kenneth and Verda Freeland Porter, he had resided in Hornell nearly all his life. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1956, and had been employed as Executive Vice President of Gibraltar Management in White Plains for many years before his retirement. Following retirement, he operated an Organic Dairy Farm on Crosby Creek Road. From an early age, Bruce played in several area bands, "Bruce Porter and the Belhops", and later "Scorpio".
He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Weinhauer.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy House Porter of Hornell; his children, David (Karen) Porter of Almond, Stephen Porter of Hornell, Gary (Lisa) Porter of Alfred Station, Bruce (Kelly) Porter Jr. of Nunda, Kevin Porter of Almond, Daniel Porter of Almond, Polly Porter-Ellis of Fulton, and James Porter of Almond; one sister, Kathleen Weinhauer of Scio; 2 brothers, George (Pat) Porter of Hornell, and David (Janice) Porter of Stannards; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as three step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins.
