Brian A. Hapeman, 47, of 8175 Briggs Road, formerly of Crosby Creek Road in Hornell, passed away unexpectedly Friday (May 18, 2012).



Born in Rhinebeck, March 2, 1965, the son of Elmer and Irene Ingles Hapeman, he had resided in Prattsburg and graduated from Prattsburg Central School in 1983. He had owned and operated Crosby Creek Collision for 15 years and recently established Hapeman Enterprises in Hornell. He had previously worked for Ken Backer in Canisteo in auto body repair, the former Elsenheimers Garage in Hornell as well as Arkport Cycles. Brian was a basketball coach at the Hornell YMCA for a few years, and coached and sponsored Gus Macker, enjoyed boating, camping with his family, snowmobiling, 4 wheelers, was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhart fan as well as a Buffalo Sabres Hockey fan. He was a member of the Hornell Moose Lodge, and had attended the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church.



He was predeceased by his parents, and his first wife Jeanne Hawkins Hapeman to whom he was married for 25 years, and his former mother in law and father in law Ernest and Barbara Hawkins.



He is survived by his wife, Lisa Clark Hapeman whom he married on March 24, 2012, his daughters, Hannah and Bethany Hapeman both of Arkport, his sister, Brenda Youngs of Prattsburg, his brothers, Barry Hapeman of Ohio, and Kyle (Charlene) Hapeman of Prattsburg, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Betsy Hawkins of Oakfield, Suzan and George Askins of Canisteo, Julie and Don Karns Jr. of Hornell, Deborah and Scott Stewart of Hornell, Cindy and Randy Dann of Corning, Kim Burritt of Wayland, Fran Macafee (Michelle Kenney) of Wayland, Tim and Jackie Clark of Woodhull and Jeff and Chung Burnett of Rochester, Family friends, Jane Zurlick of Prattsburg and Sandy & Andy Bertch of Canisteo, his close friends who he enjoyed camping and attending races with; Dale & Vicky Olin, Rob & Laurie Rodrigues, Donny & Connie Vosburg, Larry Murray, Lloyd Young, and his brother-in-law, George Askins, several nieces & nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 3PM until 8 PM Wednesday at the Bender- Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell. Funeral services will be held at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, 6034 County Route 69, in Canisteo on Thursday at 5:00 PM, Rev. Daniel Pickering and Rev. Edward Crandall officiating . A reception will follow the services. Burial will be in Bennetts Creek Cemetery, Canisteo.
