Bertha "Bertie" M. Panter, 82, of Old Almond Rd., passed away Wednesday (April 11, 2012) at her daughter's home.
Born in Andover, June 11, 1929, the daughter of Dyruss and Nora (Kenyan) Cartwright, she had resided in the Hornell/Andover area most of her life. Bertie was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann's Church. She had been employed as a waitress at the former Toddy Whitmans in Hornell, the former Big Elms of Hornell as well as Alfred Tech. Bertie retired as a manager from the former P & C Lighting of Hornell. She enjoyed working in her yard, baking, cooking and her dog Min Min.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband; Robert Panter Sr. in 2002, as well as four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one son; Jack (Shawna) Rose Jr. of Phoenix AZ, three daughters; Diane (Doug) Sick of Hornell, Teresa (Dennis) Price of Rochester and Martie (Bob) Panter of Hornell, former husband; Jack Rose of Phoenix, AZ, three step-children, several grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fremont. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. Hornell, NY 14843.
