Barbara Mae Nankivell, 74, of 93 Crosby Street, passed away Thursday (June 13, 2013) at her daughter's home.
Born in Hornell, NY, August 5, 1938, the daughter of Francis Flanagan and Emily Flint Flanagan, she had resided in the Hornell area most of her life. Barb had been employed as a waitress and cook for the former Filling Station in Canisteo and JC's Cafe´ in Hornell. For several years she was a caregiver for several area families.
Barb was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of the former St.Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Winston Nankivell, her Sister Alice Tucker and her Uncle, Louis Flanagan as well as a great great grandchild.
She is survived by her children, Francis (Diane Stone) Updyke of Arkport, Colette (Larry) Mead of Hornell, Raymond (Peggy) Nankivell of Hornell, her sisters, Dorothy O'Brien of Florida, Frances Joan DeByl (Tom) of West Virginia, Patty Wickware of Coxsackie, Elizabeth Flanagan of Jasper, Joann Stanton of Webster, her Aunt, Ellen Tuttle of Hornell, and good friend Tina Mehlenbacher of Hornell, several Grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Honoring Barbara's wishes there will be no calling hours or services. A private family interment will be held at their convenience at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fremont. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate.
