Barbara A. Evans, 72, of 38 North Church St., passed away Saturday (March 6, 2010) at Noyes Hospital in Dansville.
Born in Hornell, January 17, 1938, the daughter of Irving L. and Frances Thomas DuBois, she had resided in the Canaseraga/Hornell area all of her life. Barb worked at the Forbes Company in Dansville until her retirement in 2000. She was the leader of the Bone Builders Exercise group, attended the Young at Heart Senior Group and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Canaseraga American Legion Post #1582 where she served as Historian. Barb attended the Larger Parish Church in Canaseraga and enjoyed reading, crocheting, flowers, gardening, yard sales, going to Friday fish fries and most of all her family.
She was predeceased by her parents as well as six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband Ira Evans whom she married on June 27, 1959, two sons, Michael (Janet Robinson) Evans of Swain and Ira Scott (Denise Hensile) Evans of Olean, three daughters, Donna (Martin) Coombs of Hornell, Diane (Brian) Morse of Hornell and Dawn Evans of Canaseraga, one brother Fred DuBois of Cameron, four sisters, Ruth Mullen and Sylvia Mosher both of Canaseraga, Claudette Harrington of Bath and Bonnie House of Bradford, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Barb's wishes there were no calling hours. A private Funeral Service was held at the convenience of the family where the Rev. Jesse Flint officiated. Burial was in the Hornell Rural Cemetery.
Friends may make memorial contributions in Barb's in lieu of flowers to the Canaseraga Ambulance Squad or to the Canaseraga Essential Free Library.
