Arthur N. Marlatt, 88, of
3830 State Route417, passed away Tuesday (April17, 2007) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath.
Born in Rochester, February 14, 1919, the son of Harry and Myra Breun Marlatt, he had resided in Honoeye Falls before moving toJasper where he spent most of his life.He was a graduate of Jasper Central School,Class of 1938, and served his country as a member of the U. S. Army duringWW-2. Arthur served in Scotland , England , France , Belgium and Germany during the battle of Rhineland Central Europe, and received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the World War IIVictory Metal, the American Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Arthur was employed as a welder at IngersolRand in Painted Post retiring after more than 42 years of service. He was a member of Robinson Lodge F&AM of Jasper and a noted car enthusiast. Arthur owned and operated a Photographybusiness in Jasper for many years. Heenjoyed working crossword puzzles.
He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother, Charles Marlatt.
He is survived by cousins including Ruth Durkin of Texas, David Burrell of Lousiana, Andy Murphy of Canisteo, and the Michael Van Sicklesfamily of Jasper, with whom he made hishome for many years and hissister-in-law, Shirley Marlatt of California.
The family will be presentto receive friends from 4 PMto 7 PM Thursday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
6 Spruce St., Canisteowhere funeral services with Military Honors will be held following callinghours at 7:00 PM. Rev. Paul Emery will officiate. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
