Arthur P. Button, 85, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Friday (October 30, 2009) in Jones Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.



Born in Canaseraga, January 19, 1924, the son of Fred and Bessie Button, he was a lifelong Angelica resident. Art graduated from Wilsonian School Class of 1942, and had served in the US Army during World War II. He had worked for Slawsson Lumber in Hunt for 21 years, and retired from Preston Truck in Caneadea. Art was a 51 year member of the American Legion Post 414, where he served as commander from 1969-72, he was also a member of the North American Hunting Club, and the Angelica Firemen. He loved baseball playing in High School, later coaching highschool and the Town "Alleycat" League, and also coaching the women's softball team. He loved bowling, hunting, camping, fishing, country music, and the New York Mets.



He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Gladys Johnson Button in 1994, his sons Fred Button in 1979, and Art "Butch" Button in 1984, and his loving friend Berneata Novak in 2009, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.



He is survived by his daughters Shiela (Steve) Grastorf of Angelica, Sharon (Bob) Gallmann of Friendship, Linda (Tom) Warner of Angelica, Cindy (Dale) Bailor of Angelica, daughter in laws Debbie Button, and Cher Button Dobmeier, his brother John Button,11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, and Berneata's loving family.



The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday, with a Firemens service at 8:15pm at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. David Ford officiating. Burial will be in Until The Day Dawn Cemetery, Angelica.



Friends may make memorial contributions to: Angelica Rescue Squad, the Angelica Firemens, or the Charity of the Donors Choice.
