Arlene Huff Dennis, age 93, formerly of 34 Scott St, Hornell, NY, passed away on August 1, 2026 while a resident of Maple City Rehabilitation and Nursing center.
Born May 12, 1933, she was the daughter of Merle and Delia (Myhers) Huff.
Arlene grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School class of 1951. She resided her entire life in Hornell, Canisteo area, retiring from Steuben Trust Company After 40 years of employment as a bank executive.
Arlene was married on January 18th, 1958 to Elden C. (Pint) Dennis, in the former Park Methodist Church. He predeceased her on October 8th, 1990.
Arlene was also predeceased by her fiancée William B. (Wallboard) Johnson Sr. On May 20th, 2014. They were a loving couple for over 20 years.
She was also predeceased by sisters, D. Helen Lawrence and husband John; Ruth and Phil Harvey; Brother Merle Huff Jr. and wife Janice, all of Hornell. Survivors include her sister-in-law Christine Thomas of Alabama; brother-in-law David Dennis (Beverly) of Kansas.
Also Surviving are her loving nieces and nephews, Cathy (Kirk) and Nicole Walker of Dansville; Philip (Ellie) Harvey Jr. of California; Susan (John) Lynch; and Tracy (Bridget) Thomas.
Having no children of her own, Arlene, thanks to her fiancé Bill, inherited the loving Johnson family. Three sons, William (Gail) Johnson Jr: Greggery (Elizabeth) Johnson; and Jeffery (Carla) Johnson, all of Hornell. 7 Grandchildren; Vanessa (Dan) Spitulnik; Jaime (Scott) Milanovich; Keegan ( Rich Caruso) Manchester; Kyle Jeffery Johnson, who passed away on January 5th, 2025; Kurt Greggery Johnson; Matthew (Amanda) JOhnson: and Erica (Paul Cottingham) Johnson.
12 Great-Grand Children, all of whom were born after Arlene and Bill became a couple. Myer, Vivi, and Jane Spitulnik; Macall (Ben) Drexel; Maggie Milanovich; Anna, and Katherine Manchester; Will, Luke and Madelynn Johnson; Vincent, Sebastian Saliceti and Tanner Cottingham.
Arlene and Pint spent many years traveling the country at many hot air balloon rallies.
Arlene and Bill were avid, long-time Hornell Red Raider fans, enjoying watching the family and community members at various sporting and other events.
She and Bill enjoyed many years golfing at Twin Hickory Gulf Club and trips to Las Vegas and Seneca Allegany Casino. She could often be seen working in her beautiful flowers at the corner of Scott St. and Maple City Drive.
She was a lifetime member of the Hornell High School Alumni Association and an avid supporter of the Hornell Humane Society and the Hornell area YMCA. Arlene loved animals and adopted many cats in her lifetime.
At Arlene's request there will be no calling hours. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 pm, Friday August 7th at Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo, NY and a Celebration of Life at a date to be determined.
