Ann E. "Betsy" Pomeroy, 83, of 41 Cedar Street, passed away Thursday (November 10, 2016) following a short illness.



Born in Lackawanna, NY, December 20, 1932, the daughter of Paul and Pauline Klos Werner, she had lived most of her life in Hornell. She attended the former Lincoln School and was a graduate of St. Ann's School Class of 1946. She also attended St. Ann's School at the Federation Building in Hornell during her freshman year, and graduated from Hornell High School in the Class of 1950. While at Hornell High School, she was a member of the Journalism Class and was a member of the staff of the Volcano Newspaper.



Betsy was employed at the former Big Elms Restaurant, as well as the former Bethesda Community Hospital. She retired as a keyboard specialist at the New York State Department of Transportation in Hornell.



Betsy was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish and a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church, and St. Ann's Church. She was a member for over 20 years of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hornell VFW, a member of the Hornell Association and the Hornell Lodge of Elks.



She was predeceased by her parents, her sister; Mary Barbara Werner and her son Charles "Kim" Pomeroy.



She is survived by her daughters; Deborah Pomeroy of Pennsylvania, Melissa (Michael) McKee of Hornell and Mary Paula Pomeroy of Bath, her son; Mark Pomeroy of Hornell, Grandchildren; Brian (Wendy) Pomeroy of Pennsylvania, Courtney (Bill) Snyder of Springville, Ryan Pomeroy of Bath, Lauren (Michael) Walden of Bath, and Gage Pomeroy of Florida, Great Grandchildren; William, Mary and James Snyder of Springville, Aiden, Zachary, and Tylea Pomeroy and Courtney Clouser all of Pennsylvania, and Kenadee Woodworth of Bath, her sister-in-law; Carol Stewart of Hornell, nieces and cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends on Monday (Nov. 14, 2016) from 1-4PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell where services will follow calling hours at 4 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. An Elks Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 3:45PM.
