Alta A. Agard, 101, formerlyof
451 Canisteo Streetpassed away Monday (June 18, 2007) at McAuley Manorsurrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wayland, January 31, 1906, thedaughter of Leonard and Minnie Knolton Kuhn, she was a graduate of Wayland High School, and attended teacherstraining class. Alta taught in rural school districts in the Dansville andWayland areas for 3 years. Later, shewas employed as a seamstress at the former Hickey Freeman Plant in Hornell, andfollowing that, she assisted her husband, Harold, in the operation of the Agard Upholstery Shop in Hornell. She wasa member of the Hornell United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Agard in 1998,one brother, Howard Kuhn, and her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy andLewellen Weber.
She is survived by two daughters: Margaret "Peg"(Joseph) Doorley of Almond and Carolyn Lang of Dansville, 7 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

The family will be presentto receive friends from 1 PMto 3 PM Saturday at the Bender-Brown& Powers Funeral Home,
354Canisteo St., Hornell. A private funeral service will be held forthe family with Rev. Terry Kelly officiating.Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery , Atlanta.
