John “Too Tall” Jones, 68, a resident of Collier Street, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday (May 18, 2025).
Born in Hornell, Sept. 11, 1956, he was son of Blakeslee and Carrie Beil Jones. He had resided his entire life in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1975.
He had been self-employed for several years, working as a lawn care employee and all-around handyman. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Hornell American Legion Post and the Hornell Lodge of Elks.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Rosemary Cranmer, Susan Skelley, and Kathy Greenfield, his brother, Robert Dodge.
Surviving are his sons, Jeremy (Teresa Lafler) Jones and Anthony Jones, his sister, Priscilla Cusson, his brothers, Blakeslee (Penny) Jones and James (Marie) Jones, his longtime friend and companion, Cindy Kerr, 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present on Friday (May 23, 2025) to receive friends at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, from 11AM- 1PM, where a family funeral service will be held following at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Family & Friends are invited to a celebration of life at 5PM on Friday with a dinner at the Hornell American Legion.
