Donald W Cox, 68, of 15 Howard Street, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (May 16, 2012) at his home.
Born in Lockport, September 24, 1943, the son of Ferris E and Dortha (Brown) Cox, he was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School. He had been employed at the former East Side Grocery for many years. Donald had a passion for the outdoors and nature, especially enjoying camping, hiking, plants and animals.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his sister Joann (James) O'Heron of Canisteo, 2 brothers James (Mary) Cox of Hornell and Tom (Linda) Cox of Hornell, aunt and uncles Leo (Robin) Cox of Greenwood, David (Adaire) Brewster of Arkport, and Carl (Maybelle) Hess of Hornell, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present 2-4pm Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. David Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery of Hornell.
