He was born Nov.18, 1959 to George and Margaret Lyons at Fort Bragg Army Hospitalin North Carolina.After graduating High School he enlisted in the USArmyin1979 and served until 1982, and relocated to the area in 1999. He was adedicated family man and was employed by Gunlocke fora brief period.
Alex enjoyed antiquing, fishing and listening to jazz,watching any and all sporting events, but most of all he loved spending timewith his friends and family, and maintaining his yard and flowers. He collectedhot wheels and antique trucks, and had a huge music collection.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sandra Lyons,and brother Davis Lyons.
He is survived by his beloved companion Doreen Brooks ofHornell, sons Alex (Jen) Lyons Jr of Virginia, AndreLyons of Long Island, Nicco Cobb of Ohio, daughters Janae Lyons of Long Island, Angelica Timothy of Florida,step sons Richard Brooks Jr , Rob (Jesika) Cabik, Joe (Sade) Garcia all of Hornell, step daughter MackenizieBrooks of Hornell, brothers Ray Lyons, Charles (Terry) Brooks, Albert (Rene)Brooks, Robert Brooks all of Long Island, sisters Sallie (David) Draper ofHornell, and Pattie Hester of Georgia, several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces,and nephews.
The family will be present Saturday (September 20, 2008) from 2-4pm at the Bender-Brown &Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo St Hornell, where funeral services will beheld at 4:00pm with theRev. Dan Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Bath National Cemetery.
