Remembrances

I am late in recieving this very sad news.  Marilyn sang for us in the Hornell Community choir for 12 years.  Never one to call attention to herself, her gentle presence, enduring faith, love of music and generous soul was with us each week.  She will be missed.   - Mark Smith

We were sorry to hear that Marilyn was sick and on hospice and the next week we heard our Lord called her home.  We were very surprised and saddened to loose her to this earth but know she is present with our Lord because of her faith and trust in Jesus.  We can only imagine how joyful she is now.  For that we rejoice and thank Him for working in and through her to accomplish His purposes for His glory.  She was a dear lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Because we were away for the weekend we were unable to go to the funeral home so we want to extend our sympathy and love to you all.  May our Lord pour out His amazing love giving you His peace, comfort and strength.  John 14:1-14

Marilyn was a large part of my growing up years.  I was friends with Dawn then when Dawn wasn't home Marilyn became my friend.  I will always remember our  dancing class and going to visit her at SUNY at Alfred.  Marilyn will always be in my heart.  I looked forward every year to singing with her in the Community Choir.  She has many talents.  My mother always said that when someone young passes, that God had greater need for them than we have here on earth.  I know Marilyn is singing her heart out for our Lord.

I was blessed to work with Marilyn for the last two years.  She always went above and beyond at work, and sincerely cared for those she served.  I could always count on Marilyn to make me laugh and brighten my day.  She was a true inspiration to me, relentlessly pursuing her goals, and I was fortunate to have spent time with such a wonderful person- Her quick wit and sweet smile will never leave my memory.  "When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."

I have known Marilyn for almost 30 years now.  I have a million memories but I think this one really shows "Marilyn".  Marilyn and I sang on the praise team together at church.  Each Sunday we would get up on stage and greet each other.  We would chat for a minute before the service began.  One day she was wearing this pretty black shirt that I just loved.  I told her how much I loved it and how good it looked on her.  The next Sunday she had the shirt in a bag and gave it to me.  I couldn't believe she gave me that shirt.  And the truth is, I wear it all the time.  She was a wonderful woman with a heart of gold.  She loved God and served Him everyday.  She will be greatly missed.
