Lyle S Coons Sr.

 

            Canisteo

 

Lyle S Coons, 78, of 2912 Red Spring Run Road, passed away Friday (August 27, 2010) at Rochester Highland Hospital.

 

Born in Naples, April 6, 1932, the son of Walter and Mable Davis Coons, he had been a lifelong area Bath and Canisteo resident. Lyle served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for Bath Truck & Tractor, and at the Prattsburgh Creamery. Lyle was a Bassmaster’s member, and enjoyed fishing, cards, dice, and anything pertaining to cars especially Ford’s.  

 

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary Ann Nina Stone, 2 brothers Warren, and Chuck Coons, 3 sisters Janava, Bessy, and Lena.

 

He is survived by his daughters Tina (George) Wise of Hunt, Nancy Coons of Syracuse, PA, sons Lyle Coons Jr. of Rochester, Clancy (Donna) Coons of Canisteo, and Teddy Coons of Norwich, brother Wilber Coons, sisters Carol Perry, Kay Davis, and Nora Johnson, 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

The family will be present 2-4 &7-9 pm Thursday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Gary Miles officiating.  Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
